Welcome to wUeek 7 of my genius hour project. Earlier this week I ran twice, doing another 24-minute 14 minute running workout and then another 26 minute total 16 minute workout. I am now inching closer and closer to running 3 miles, running about 2.5 miles per workout at the moment. I feel burnt out at times but I know I have to keep going so I am trying to stay optimistic as we get closer to the end.
Welcome to week 6 of my genius hour project. We are officially halfway through, and I am feeling pretty good. I am a little over halfway to running a 5K and as long as I stay consistent I should not have any issue achieving my goal by the end of the 12 weeks. I have been getting behind on my blog posts, however. I am juggling work and school and am struggling to find the time or the motivation to stay on top of those things. I hope to make adjustments to prevent this from happening in the future.
Welcome to week 5 of my genius hour project. Given it is week 5 of 12, we are now almost 50% through with genius hour. Considering I am over halfway to running a 5K, I would say I am doing relatively well. I was able to run twice this week, doing two 24-minute long workouts, with 14 minutes of running and 10 minutes of walking. I have recently started running on trails rather than around my neighborhood so that I can get more practice on different terrains and running uphill. I am getting closer and closer to going 3 miles within my workouts and am burning more calories every time I run.Welcome to week 4 of my genius hour project. Earlier this week I ran two 34-minute workouts, running 14 minutes and walking for 20. Having skipped ahead a few weeks in the workout schedule, I have noticed that whilst I am not struggling at all, things are definitely more difficult than they were at the very start. I have now reached the halfway point to a 5K and am trying to get in as many workouts as I can whilst trying to juggle both schoolwork and work. I have let myself get behind on blog posts, but am well on track in regards to actually achieving my goal by the end of the 12 weeks.- Welcome to week 3 of my genius hour project. As of now, I have finally started my 5K journey and right now, it's relatively easy. I started my week with a 18 minute long workout, with only 8 minutes of running, and 10 minutes of walking. Later this week I did a 20 minute workout, with 10 minutes of running and 10 minutes of walking. Whilst this has been a relatively slow start, and I do not feel challenged at all at the moment, you have to start from somewhere and I felt it would be in my best interest to start off slow as the app intends, so that I don't get burnt out, given this is going to be a major grade and my success is dependent on me actually being willing to run. However, after my most recent run, the app optimized my workout and should have me skipping to week 3 Workouts.Welcome to week 2 of my genius hour project. Unfortunately, I have not yet started my project but after thinking throughout the week I have come to the conclusion that I will do my genius hour project on running 3 miles, and will use an app called "Couch To 5K" to guide me through this process. This app has taken my weight, height, and activity level and has created a startup workout for me to get going. I feel that even though I have let myself get behind, and will not have actually started the running until week 3 of 12, I should not have any issue being able to run a 5K by the end of the 12 weeks. I have got into running in the past and enjoy it, so the hardest part of this process for me should just be keeping myself on track and ensuring that I document all of my data as time goes on. Thankfully, the app that I'm using will store all data from my runs that I'm sure I will need once the time comes to present my project. To add to the convenience of the app, it will also optimize upcoming workouts for me based upon my performance and the feedback I give the app about how easy or hard the run previous was. |
